BIOGRAPHY

Saxophonist, composer, arranger, teacher

Lecturer at LASALLE College of the Arts/University of the Arts Singapore
Artistic Director at Grooveworks/Modern Music Society (Singapore)

After studying jazz and classical saxophone and composition in Cologne, Vienna and Graz (where he got his master’s degree), Andreas made a mark in the orchestral jazz scene as a performer, composer, arranger and conductor.

Besides being chief conductor and artistic director of the Croatian Radio Jazz Orchestra, he was awarded 5 Porin awards (the “Croatian Grammy”), and shared the stage with some of the biggest stars in jazz, including Dee Dee Bridgewater, Branford Marsalis, Peter Erskine and Randy Brecker. He performed in many of the world’s most famous venues, like the North Sea Jazz Festival, the Ankara Music Festival, the Prague Jazz Fest and the 2018 World Saxophone Congress.

His discography as instrumentalist, conductor, composer and producer spans over twenty released albums, in genres as diverse as classical music, ethno, jazz and pop. His works are regularly performed by chamber groups, big bands and symphonic orchestras in Europe and overseas.

Andreas has also helped half a generation of young saxophonists, composers, and arrangers with their musical careers by getting them through auditions, preparing them for further studies at well-known music universities, or just aiding them in taking the next step in their artistic development.

Based in Singapore since 2019, he regularly performs with the finest local jazz, latin, and contemporary musicians. Currently teaching saxophone and jazz ensemble at LASALLE College of the Arts, he has lectured at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory (NUS) and the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA). He taught woodwinds at United World College (UWCSEA) and the Australian International School (AIS), and maintains a private studio where he teaches saxophone, jazz, improvisation and composition.
